Iridology

Iridology and Iris Diagnostic

Iridology is probably one of the most mysterious para-scientific areas in alternative medicine. There are many medical pseudosciences which persevere and are widely used despite an absolute absence of either reliability or proof for usefulness.

Some practices arose out of their philosophy of origin, others, out of the fundamental concepts of a pre-scientific period.  Some, however, were created by accidental discoveries of rogue practitioners. Some of these sciences were just created from observation – for example – homeopathy, or for instance – the subluxation theory.

The first recollections about iridology can be found in the book of the Old Testament. It states, “The eyes are the projector of the body. If your eyes are bright and shiny and healthy, the whole body will be full of light and health” Matthew, chapter 6, verse 22.

History of Iridology

Iridology has its place in this final category of alternative methods of diagnostics and treatment – a method of identification of abnormal processes or physical changes in different organs and tissues of the body that were invented entirely by Ignatz Peczely, a Hungarian medical doctor who first issued a scientific commentary about his ideas in 1893. According to the old story, Peczely as a youngster found an owl with a fractured leg. When he took the owl home he observed a noticeable black line in the iris of the owl’s eye on the same side as a broken leg. Over the next few months, he nursed the bird back to health. Before releasing the bird into the wild, Peczely examined the bird for the last time. It was then that Peczely realized that the mark in the iris had disappeared, and was replaced by shabby white elements. From this distinct incident, Peczely discovered the concept of iridology.

Peczely’s hypothesis was that the iris relates to the rest of the body in some way, and, therefore, the marks of color in the iris reflect the condition of overall wellbeing of the different organs of the body. This practice of diagnosis and treatment is named the homunculus methodology and it’s based on the idea that one organ of the body maps the other parts of the same body, including organs and systems. Traditional Chinese Medicine, Reflexology, acupuncture, foot massage, palm therapy, auricular acupuncture, and even regular chiropractic use this method.

Had Peczely pursued publication the events that would follow would resemble this scenario: After broadcasting his initial interpretations, Peczely would set out to test his concepts with well-designed experiments that were capable of proving his hypothesis. He prudently assembled a frame of straightforward but well-established facts about the connection between the iris and different organs and parts of the body. Years after, anatomists would reveal the essential mechanism of these links – a vast system of interconnections between the iris, the body, and different organs. Additional exploration developed by the iris Association, and later medical researchers would discover more techniques to utilize this interesting aspect of anatomy and physiology.

In reality, this is not what took place. Peczely did not continue his scientific investigation. Instead, he simply developed a pseudoscience. He sketched a chart of the iris that was mostly a result of his thoughts rather than real observation, and the inaccuracy of the charts due to lack of research became the source of the confirmation bias. Peczely did not perform  blinded studies or create some kind of proof that could distinctly determine an authentic phenomenon from an unreal one. Fortunately, this did not stop iridology from progressing for about next 120 years. The current reputation of iridology, particularly in the United States is related to Bernard Jensen, a chiropractor, who used iris diagnostics techniques in his everyday practice to better pinpoint the most affected organs or parts of the body. He wrote the manuscript The Science and Practice of Iridology in 1952. Iridology, or iris diagnostics, still practiced in modern medicine by holistic practitioners, acupuncturists, Reiki healers, including some chiropractors and naturopaths. Iridology is not officially recognized as a valid medical method.

Application of Iridology

Often as a result, of the iris evaluation, the practitioner will be able to prescribe the appropriate dietary supplement and herbal medications.

So, how does the iris disclose altering conditions of the parts and organs of the body?

As it was mentioned above, every organ of the body is mapped on the iris. Various spots, dots, and discoloration in the specific areas of the iris are signs of pathological processes that happened, in particular, organs and or parts of the body. Some of these signs could be normal, so it’s important not only to “photograph” the iris but also to Iridology Iris Diagnostictalk to the patient and discuss his/her condition. For example, bright red dot located on the iris in the area of the uterus may symbolize cancer of this organ, but it may also be present during a short time period which may mean a minor disease. There is little difference in the nature of this dot but an experienced iridologist will probably see it. When the bright red dot represents normal menstruation it has a very neat edge, however, if this edge looks broken – it is usually a sign of an atypical condition.

Based on principals of iridology, a practitioner can discover congenital and develop health problems and diseases, in present health state,  general health, and the condition of every specific organ.

Iridology cannot always specify the nature of the illness, but almost always, it tells if a patient has higher or lower than normal energy level in precise areas of the body. For instance, the lower than normal activities (discolorations) in the pancreas area of the iris may point to a diabetic condition even if it’s not diagnosed yet.

While evaluating the iris the iridology practitioner usually discusses certain health issues with the patient that he or she “reads” the iris. The knowledge of these conditions is used to categorize iridological findings. If however, the problem iridologist is pointing to absent – it is possible that the pathological condition is in a development state and had not been diagnosed yet. Also, like all types of science the findings may be misinterpreted because of various factors. For example, the mark on an iris represents an inherited condition, which may be dormant at the time of the evaluation.

It is very important to have the iridological evaluation performed by medical professionals who understand principles of physiology, pathology, and medicine. Only a medical professional can distinguish the difference between normal and pathological conditions and use iris findings appropriately.

The Protestant pastor Leopold Erdmann Emanuel Felke was one of the most famous iridologists in the world. He also known as a co-father of combinational homeopathy and he successfully used iridology in order to find the most appropriate homeopathic remedy. Once Felke had to prove his ability to diagnose patients by the shape, color and look of the iris in front of auditorium occupied by different medical practitioners. He diagnosed over 20 individuals only by observing their irises. Felke objected because he could not talk to the patients, which differed from what he typically did to take their medical histories. The doctors, however, believed that it would change the results and talking to the patients was not allowed. 90% diagnosed during that test were correct and pastor Felke was able to convince the “judges”.

Today, iridology is a legitimate technique in the arsenal room of naturopaths, acupuncturists, and holistic practitioners.

There are over 10,000 iridologists in different European countries, compared to 1,000 in the United States. In Europe, it is broadly recognized and used to categorize an individual’s overall establishment as an initial point for diagnosis.

At Viva Healthy Life, Dr. Tsan has been trained in this field by the best iridologists in Europe (Dr. Johannes Thiel and Dr. Eduard Lahn)  and USA (Dr. Bernard Jensen and Dr. David J. Pesek).

During the last iridology world symposium in January of 2014 in Venice Dr. Victor Tsan demonstrated over 90% of accuracy while blind testing individuals using iris diagnosis only.

Iridology at Viva Healthy Life by Dr. Tsan

At Viva Healthy Life Dr. Tsan uses the newest version of the Iriscope that allows him to take a still picture of the eye, magnify it up to 50 times and then analyze it on a big screen of the computer in which the Professional Iridology software running analyzing the changes of the iris and it’s connections to the different parts of the body. The daily dose of Diflucan should be based on the nature and severity of the fungal infection. Treatment of infections requiring multiple dosing should be continued until clinical parameters or laboratory tests indicate that active fungal infection has subsided. Patients with AIDS, cryptococcal meningitis or recurrent oral candidiasis usually require maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence of infection. Read more on https://www.childrenslymenetwork.org/children-lyme/diflucan-online/. The professional software  analyzer then checks the results against the daily updated database of the newest medical and naturopathic discoveries and recommends the best and most appropriate treatment for this condition. Most of the recommended herbal medicines and homeopathic remedies can be conveniently bought right from our store.
